Silverlight 4 Only installer

Hi,

For our current project, the customer explictly asked us to target for Silverlight4(SL4).

The current latest release does not have 'out of the box' installation of SL4 design & runtime controls.

What are the steps to take ?

(install full MSI for SL5, and download the SL4 Dll ZIP, and then next: do I have SL4 design time controls in the Toolkit of VS2010?) ?

Thank you for contacting us.

Since Q1 2012 our automatic installer (msi) provides only Silverlight 5 controls. If you need to use the latest Silverlight 4 controls, the only option is to download a hotfix (zip) with the Silverlight 4 controls.

In order the take advantage of the VSExtensions, you can unzip the hotfix package in %appdata%\Telerik\Updates keeping the containing folder, e.g. you should get %appdata%\Telerik\Updates\RadControls_for_Silverlight4_2012_1_0215_DEV_hotfix. This will help the extensions to detect the Silverlight 4 distribution automatically. Design time should work as well.

Having SL4 distribution in the correct folder on your machine, makes possible to update your projects to the latest version using the Upgrade Wizard (it will automatically detect the appropriate distribution according the project's silverlight version).

If you use the Visual Studio Toolbox for SL4 and SL5 projects, you should change the currently loaded distribution in the Toolbox using the Toolbox Configurator when switching between different projects. When developing Silverlight 4 application the Toolbox should be configured to list Silverlight 4 distribution. Please, note that the Silverlight 4 distributions are versioned *.1040 and Silverlight 5 distributions are versioned *.1050.

I buy for the first time the new version of your SL product (in "Developer License with Subscription and Priority Support") and i need your compossant in SL4 version but in my interface the inly choice i had to doownload is RadControls_for_Silverlight5_2012_3_1112_DEV_hotfix.zip and i haven't the "RadControls_for_Silverlight4_2012_1_0215_DEV_hotfix.zip".

How can i work with your control in my SL4 project?

Thank you for contacting us.

We've tweaked your account and now you should have access to previous versions that include SL4. To browse the previous versions go to Your Account -> Manage Product -> DevCraft Complete -> Download Installer and Other resources, then in the product pane click Older Versions.

The last release that includes SL4 hotfix is 2011.3 1220.

We have recently renewed our subscription: DevCraft Complete (Formerly Premium Collection) with Developer License with Subscription and Priority Support.
We have the need to maintain our software working with silverlight 4, but the only choice that your site can provide me is silverlight 5.

Any idea how could I use your control in my SL4 project?

I will appreciate if you could help us, any help will be really usefull.

Thanks for reaching out.

Our policy for customers who would like to use older versions of the controls, is the following: They purchase a license for the latest version and we add a matching license for the version they need to their accounts manually. After the purchase has been finalized, you will need to email us at [e-mail]  with a request that the older version be added to your account.
